Meet our Doctors

Dr Shahab Taj MBBS (UWA), ACRRM, AST (Gen Med)

Dr Shah Taj medical doctorDr Taj is our clinic director, and brings more than a decade of both general practice and hospital experience to our caring medical facility. He is a graduate of the University of Western Australia, receiving his medical degree in 2003. He has since accumulated years of intense hospital training, including 10 years as Medical Registrar at Royal Perth Hospital.

He worked as a Senior Medical Officer in General Medicine, Oncology and Palliative Care for two years in Gympie Hospital Qld. He’s also received advanced specialist training in General Medicine, and is currently working toward a fellowship in FACRRM. His special interest is Diabetes, Geriatric Medicine, Cardiology, Oncology, Emergency Medicine, Palliative Care, and Antenatal Care.

My greatest joy is in helping people have a better life. It was my dream to be a doctor even during my childhood; I was very lucky to come from a family that completely encouraged and supported my passion.”

Dr Taj is married with two children. His wife is also a doctor and will soon be joining the practice. When he’s not busy helping his many patients, he enjoys jogging, gardening and taking his kids to the park on the weekends.

Dr Yin Kwan Wong Medical Doctor

Dr Yin Kwan Wong, MBBS, M.Med (Paediatrics), MRCP (UK) DCH LLB, FACLM (General Practitioner)

With a keen interest in medicine, paediatrics and helping and supporting people, Yin Kwan provides his patients with outstanding healthcare. He studied in Singapore and graduated in 1972. To stay abreast of the latest in the medical field, Yin Kwan regularly takes continuing professional development courses.

When he’s not at Forrest Road Medical Centre, Yin Kwan enjoys music, computers and woodwork. “I’m also interested in learning languages and about other cultures.”

Dr Ramakrishnan Sukumaran, MBBS, FACRRM (General Practitioner)

Dr Ramakrishnan Sukumaran Medical DoctorAfter graduating from university in India in 1967, Suku has been passionate about providing exceptional healthcare to his patients. At our full service general medical practice, he enjoys helping people live a better, healthier life.

His particular areas of interest include family and men’s health, skin check and minor surgical procedures. He also takes continuing professional development courses to stay abreast of the latest in the medical field. As a specialist general practitioner, Suku can provide an accurate diagnosis of your problem and offer an appropriate solution. He speaks Punjabi, Urdu and English.

Outside the practice, Suku enjoys staying active and playing golf in particular.

Dr Fatima Tomas Stanakzai MD, FRACGP

Dr Fatima Stanakzai Medical DoctorAs an MD, Dr Stanakzai enjoys providing exceptional medical care to her patients. She offers a broad array of high-quality healthcare services to help patients experience optimal wellbeing. She specialises in all aspects of general practice including women’s, children’s health, chronic conditions, and general medicine.

“I am looking forward to watching the practice grow and am so excited to help our local community access affordable healthcare close to home.” Dr Stanakzai graduated from The Khost University in 2003. She has additional qualifications: AMC Certificate Australia and FRACGP. To stay abreast of the latest in medicine, she takes multiple continuing education and professional development courses.

When she’s not at the office, Dr. Stanakzai enjoys spending time with her family. “I have two young children who keep me busy when I am not at the practice! I love spending time with them playing and nurturing their love of books.”

Dr Melanie ChenDr Melanie Chen MBBS, BS

After completing her medical degree at UNSW, training in ACT and completing a brief course at Royal London Homeopathic Hospital, Dr Chen moved to Perth in the 1980s. In 2006, she re-entered university life and earned a Certificate in Forensic Science.

Since 2009, she has been regularly volunteering with a charity that helps provide dental care to the underprivileged in Vietnam. Her role as team doctor sees her checking children before their turn with the dentist.

“My interests are in women’s health and supporting those who wish to live a simpler life in all aspects, including LGBTI+,” Dr Chen said. “I also offer iron infusions and therapeutic ultrasound for acute musculoskeletal problems.”
